Gillian Marie Flower Shoppe Supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation

Good Evening Girls!!

Many of you do not know that my Grandma is a Breast Cancer survivor. Cancer has touched my life personally, therefore it is with much pride that we support Elisa Wen Clothing Boutique's benefit for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Elisa Wen, a contemporary women's clothing boutique in Danville, is sponsoring an event tomorrow from 12pm to 6pm at their Danville Boutique. They have great clothes, at reasonable prices - plus tomorrow, a portion of your purchase goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Shop and donate? Sign me up! :)

If you are in the area swing by Elisa Wen tomorrow at:
730 Camino Ramon, Ste. 170
Danville, CA 94526
925.831.9600

Elisa Wen will also be hosting delicious drinks and yummy cupcakes all day. Gillian Marie Flower Shoppe has donated our custom floral designs for the occasion as well!

A few years ago, my mom and Aunt Joani walked the Breast Cancer 3-Day. They walked with my Great Aunt Marsha, who is also a courageous Breast Cancer survivor. If you have not had the pleasure of participating or supporting the walkers, I strongly encourage you to do so this year. Every walker has a story: some cancer survivors, and others walking in honor of those who fought or are fighting Breast Cancer. Each person who walks and supports the Breast Cancer 3-Day is joining the cause to fight for a cure. It is an amazing weekend, and incredibly inspirational to be a part of. I encourage you to grab your pink tutu's, pop your party CD into the car stereo, and cheer on the walkers as they make their way up the Bay!!

With a cause this dear to all of us, I am so happy to be able to participate in this benefit! Elisa Wen has recently stocked their Danville location. They have great dresses for your summer wedding or BBQ. Also, I hear that they recently got in flower girl dresses! Cute!! :)

Also, if you purchase 2 Hale Bop items, or spend $350, you will receive a free tracksuit (valued at $100.00).
Please pass this email onto anyone that you think may be interested! Also see flier attached.
Make sure to tell the girls at Elisa Wen that I sent you too!! :)

Have a great Memorial Weekend, and I hope to see ya all soon!

The Danville Weekly is currently taking votes for the town's BEST OF addition.

PLEASE help us get us noticed in Danville by voting for us online at Danville Weekly Online http://www.danvilleweekly.com/best_of/voting/form.php
Because we are only 2 weeks old in Danville, you will have to write in Gillian Marie Flower Shoppe in the Best Florist category. Also in order for your vote to count you must vote for 4 other categories besides Best Florist.

The Flower Shoppe: A First Week's Reflection

It's hard to believe that the Flower Shoppe has just passed our One Week Anniversary, it feels like a month has passed since we took this photo after our first day in business.

First of all, I have to say how incredibly grateful I am to our new customers, neighbors, and friends at Gillian Marie Flower Shoppe. We have loved meeting everyone in the community, and feel incredibly bless to be given this opportunity.

I must give a quick shout out to a few people who have really gone above and beyond to make Blake and I feel welcomed and supported as we start this new adventure. First of all our new family at Sideboards Restaurant has been incredible. Ford and Erin you both rock! If you have not tried Sideboards, you are missing out!! Sideboards is located just around the corner from us on Hartz Ave. I recommend trying the Chicken Salad Sandwich with Currants on Walnut Bread, also the Fried Brussels Sprouts are a must trust me!
Also a huge thank you to Melinda at Hartz and Soles, Mary Ellen and the girls at Papyrus, Brooks and the boys at The Cigar Shop, the Walsh boys at Norm's Place, and Marilyn at Moda Mi. You have all welcomed us to the street with a smile :)

We love our regular visits from customers as well. Johnny and Kristin, you two are such a sweet couple. I am very honored to be part of your wedding, and look forward to continuing our friendship beyond. Michelle, Sharon, Amy, and all of our other loyal new friends... Thank you for your business!

Here are a few photos of our first week!
Best,
Gillian

The Shoppe Grande Opening

Some superstitions see rain as a bad omen, however not Blake and I! Like most celebrations in our honor, we openned the Flower Shoppe in the pouring rain. The rain has become a welcomed blessing to us, and although it caused a traffic jam (which made me over an hour late), the celebration was hardly hindered!

Thank you to all of our family and friends who stopped by to support us on Friday evening. We made our first official sale to Phil and Paula, who's five dollar bill is now stapled to the wall. For those who were unable to make it, we hope to see you soon. :)

Here are a few photos of the party.

Enjoy,
Gillian

Sneak Peak of the Shoppe!

Well, we have been working like crazy to get the Shoppe beautified and ready for our Grande Opening on Saturday, 5/2/09.

While there have been a few stumbles and bruises to show for it (see photos below) the Shoppe is quickly coming together, and we are so excited to open!!

As you can see, this has TRULY been a labor of love. :) My fiance and business partner, Blake, has been extraordinary throughout the process. The other day he made me laugh referring to our home as "the place where we used to hang out". We have been working around the clock, but are so proud of our little Flower Shoppe!

We are having an Open House on Friday 5/1/2009 for all family and friends to come celebrate with us at the Shoppe. We will be at the Shoppe (411 Hartz Unit R. Next door to Papyrus, on Prospect Ave)from 5pm-10pm. If you are in the area, please stop by to say hello. :) We will have a glass of bubbly waiting for you!

Knowing me, we will be working to the wire... but in the meantime here are a few photos of our progress at Gillian Marie Event Design's Flower Shoppe!

Keep in mind we are missing one minor portion of our inventory: CUT FLOWERS :) Those will come in Friday as to keep fresh.

Thank you so much for your interest and support as we begin this exciting adventure!

Best,
Gillian

Shhhh... Don't Tell Anyone!!!

Well at least this time I have a darn good excuse for my absence of blogs... we have been cleaning and painting and sewing and building like crazy people!!

All for my newest love child: Gillian Marie Event Design is excited to introduce the Flower Shoppe in downtown Danville, CA!

Thank you to everyone who has been in on our secret and has lent a helping hand to this BIG project!

So as many of you know, opening a Flower Shoppe has been a dream of mine for a long while. Even before we dreamed up Gillian Marie Event Design, Blake and I had shared many a conversations (and glasses of wine) over my little store! Yes, opening a shoppe was in our two or five year plan, but definitely not our two month plan. (Especially when our wedding also falls within those two months!) But we stumbled upon the tiny space when walking around downtown, and like all underdogs... I fell in love! :) Despite it's tattered appearance and slightly crooked stature, Blake and I saw it's FULL potential!

Not to make light of it's condition... the shoppe was quite sad and dilapidated when we found it. As part of the Historic Danville Hotel, it had been left in a partially abandoned state: broken front window, filthy stained floors, holes in the walls, red trim, torn awning, and the list goes on! In fact the building was slated to be torn down. However due to the economy (or I might beg our incredible luck) they decided to put off demo, and begin to re-rent the space.

We immediately went to work. With a surplus of bleach (lots of it), paint (even more of it) and family help (immeasurable amounts) our little underdog is quickly become a very charming space. Yes, my opinion is slightly biased!... so please join us to see for yourself!

So enough about the building... Let's get to the good part: what is this shoppe about?!

The Flower Shoppe will be a Farmer's Market style shoppe. Guests will find buckets upon buckets of fresh blooms for their picking. Whether you bring bunches home to arrange and vase yourself, or rather choose from our selection of vases to be arranged for you, we will have plenty of blooms to choose from. Small gifts and cards will make the Shoppe a perfect place to stop before a birthday lunch, a dinner party, or just because!

Why go to the local grocery store to buy two week old flowers, when you have a surplus of lush, exotic, and seasonal blooms fresh from the growers?! Our prices and quality, as well as our guaranteed freshness makes the Flower Shoppe your one stop shop for flowers!

Our location is in the heart of downtown Danville a stones throw from Starbucks, Sideboards Restaurant, Corks Wine Bar, Flaunt Clothing Boutique to name a few.

We are working away to meet our May 8 opening, so please stay close by for sneak peaks and exclusive savings!

Don't worry Gillian Marie Event Design brides... I am also thinking of you! This shoppe provides us with a place to meet and converse. Also a place for you to see flowers first hand and make decisions about your wedding. As your date approaches, please take a moment to peak in and say hello. Even better, give me a call and let me know when you plan to stop in so that I can have the shoppe ready for you!

Just incase you don't believe me that our little Shoppe was once a true underdog... here are some photos to prove it! Let me tell you... this is taking alot of elbow grease :)

Family, Brides, Friends, and Neighbors... we hope to see you ALL soon!
